Nitmiluk
National Park has something for everyone ranging from Aboriginal
Rock Art, scenic waterfalls, swimming holes - billabong's,
to an abundance of flora and fauna. Within the gorge you
can go on a boat cruise or alternatively hire a kiak or canoe to
paddle through the gorges at your own pace. Each gorge is accessible
from the next and you can get to the next gorge by carting your
boat over the rocks to the beginning of the next gorge.
Another popular place to visit within Nitmiluk National Park for
spectacular scenery is the ever popular Edith Falls.
Access to Edith Falls is not the same as you would go via gorge
rd (Katherine) There is a turn off on your left a few kilometres
before reaching the Katherine township. (if your heading from
Darwin) which you travel about 20kms along that will take you
to Edith Falls. Camping is permitted at both parts of Nitmiluk.
( Note: Katherine
is 314 km's from Darwin).
