Darwin is the capital of the
Northern Territory. Darwin provides all the comforts of a modern
city and is proud of its Historic significants, retaining its past
while looking to the future. The Top End`s Darwin is a casual, cosmopolitan
city which offers visitors a fair amount of things to see and do.
The city is built on a peninsula on the eastern shores of Port Darwin,
a deep inlet of the Clarence Straight between Bathurst and Melville
Islands and the mainland.
Darwin experiences hot days and warm nights throughout the year
with two distinctive seasons. May to October is the dry season and
the best time to visit Darwin, with idyllic weather and fresh breezes.
In November to April, the monsoonal wet brings frequent late afternoon
thunderstorms and overnight rain as well as the threat of cyclones
and can be a great time of the year, with its spectacular lighting.
