A dynamic wetland area which
changes from a flooded wetlland waterway to a dry seasion wildlife
refudge. A large land - locked billabong fringed by pandanus palms,
bamboo, melaleucas and lowland monsoonal rainforest. Yellow water
is one of the most popular attractions of Kakadu. A boat cruise
will give you a chance to see the local wildlife such as the Comb
crested Jacana, the elegant Brolba and Jabiru, squadrons of whistling
ducks and the elusive Rufus Night Heron.
Numerous large crocodiles inhabit the billabong and are frequently
spotted. Dawn and dusk is the best time to see Yellow Water at its
finest. A board walk has also been constructed along part of the
billabong from which most of the birdlife can be seen.
