The denominations are: $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 notes
and 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1 and $2 coins. Foreign exchange is available
through Thomas Cook outlets at the airport and Smith Street Mall,
Darwin City during business hours. There is also another foreign
outlet in Mitchell Street.

Time
The Northern Territory operates at Universal Time
Coordinated plus 9 hours. It does not have daylight saving at
any time during the year as other Australian states do. Greenwich
mean time plus 9 hours and 30 minutes.

Banks
Banking hours are 9.30am - 4pm Monday to Thursday,
9.30am - 5pm Friday. Banks are closed Saturdays and Sundays and

Electricity
Power troughout Australia is 240 volt AC. As few
places have alternative power outlets, it`s a good idea to carry
a small 110 V transformer and plug conversion kit.

dialling. Card phone are also available at the airport and selected
hotels. Phone ncards are readily available at the Vistors Information
